Sheet Vinyl Flooring
Sheet vinyl flooring is a solid sheet of vinyl that is cut to size and installed in one piece. 6. How to install?
Vinyl flooring is a popular choice for homeowners due to its durability, versatility, and affordability. Here are the steps to install vinyl flooring:
- SUITABLE SURFACES
Smooth, well-bonded solid floors; dry, clean, well-cured concrete; wood floors with plywood. All surfaces must be dust free.
- PREPARATION
Getting ready to install new flooring may sound daunting, but it doesn’t have to be!
Before you begin, let the planks sit in the room for 48 hours to adjust to the temperature. Check each plank for defects and ensure you have sufficient material to finish the job.
If you’re laying the vinyl flooring plank over existing tiles, make sure they’re stuck down or remove them. Clean any glue or residue and remove wax or coatings on smooth surfaces.
For porous surfaces like cement or plywood, use a primer to seal them. For new concrete floors, wait 60 days before installing the vinyl flooring planks. Wood plank floors need a plywood subfloor, and make sure to secure loose boards and smooth out uneven areas with leveling compound.
Finally, clean the floor of wax, grease, oil, or dust and make sure it’s sealed before installing the planks. With a little careful preparation, installing new flooring can be a piece of cake!
- INSTALLATION
Planning your floor – Diagram 1
Begin laying your floor at the corner of the longest wall. Before applying glue on the floor, lay a complete row of planks to determine the length of the final plank. If the last plank is shorter than 300mm (12″), then adjust the starting point accordingly, this is necessary in order to achieve the correct staggered effect. The cut edge should always face the wall. It’s possible to start from the center of the floor as well if a proper center point is determined using laser measurement or a professional measurement.

Remove the plank once the first lines are determined. Apply vinyl adhesive on the floor only those areas that you want to start installing & can reach without stepping glue. Wait for 15 to 20 minutes for the glue to have a drying effect & looks clearer than when it was applied. Installation of the first line of plank that was determined & continue next likes. Repeat the gluing process & continue the installation of planks the same way. To fit air vents, door frames, etc, make a cardboard pattern as a guide and use this to draw an outline on the plank. Cut to shape and check that it fits before applying glue & plank. It should fit snugly and should not be forced into place.

When you reach the last row, you may find that the gap is less than one full plank wide. To ensure accurate cutting of the final row, lay the plank to be cut exactly over the last full plank, lay another full plank against the wall, and mark the cutting line where the planks overlay. Before putting glue & stick on the floor, check that the cut plank fits correctly. The plank should not be forced into place.
It’s important to follow these steps carefully to ensure a successful installation of vinyl flooring. If you’re unsure about any aspect of the installation process, it’s best to consult a professional flooring contractor.
7. Vinyl Flooring Plank Maintenance

Avoid exposure to direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time. Use drapes or blinds to minimize direct sunlight during peak sunlight hours. Sweep regularly to remove surface grit and dust. Use a damp cloth or mop to clean up any dirt and footprints. All spills should be cleaned up immediately.
Cleaning and Maintenance
- First Use
When the installation is completed, clean the surface of the floor covering it with warm water to which a neutral detergent has been added. Never use solvents to remove logos or information printed on the surface of the product as the ink used is water soluble.
- Preliminary Measure
The use of a doormat without a rubber backing is recommended for doorways leading to the exterior, to protect the surface of the floor covering from grit and abrasive particles brought in on the soles of people’s shoes.
- Regular Maintenance Program
a. Daily Cleaning: using a soft dry broom or vacuum cleaner.
b. Weekly cleaning: Use neutral detergent in water with a fringed mop or floor cloth.
- Periodic Maintenance
For grained or textured surfaces, manual or mechanical in-depth cleaning is recommended at suitable intervals, using a neutral detergent in water and a nylon brush. After brushing eliminate the dirty water using a floor scraper, rinse with clean water, remove the surface water, and dry with a floor cloth.

9. Warranty & Certificates
We provide the following warranty period for residential and commercial use on material and manufacturing defects for LIVINN flooring tiles purchased.
Residential – 10 Years
Commercial – 5 Years
- The warranty takes effect from the date of purchase.
- The warranty covers hidden defects in the floor based on material or manufacturing defects that occur within the warranty period.
- The warranty applies exclusively upon the use of the product in normal living and proper areas.
We are only responsible for manufactured defects. PSF does not warrant installers’ workmanship. Workmanship issues should be addressed with the contractor who installed the floor.
